The Hærvejen Secretariat oversees the overall development of the Hærvejen hiking and cycling routes in collaboration with the 15 municipalities that participate in the association Develop Hærvejen.
Development Hærvejen is an association formed by municipalities along the Hærvejen hiking and cycling routes, working to develop the Hærvejen as a cohesive tourist and recreational area.
The association has its own secretariat, which is responsible for haervej.dk, the Hærvejen app, brochures, and other information about the Hærvejen, assisting the many who hike and cycle the Hærvejen each year to have a good experience.
The association includes the municipalities of Hjørring, Jammerbugt, Vesthimmerland, Frederikshavn, Brønderslev, Aalborg, Rebild, Mariagerfjord, Viborg, Silkeborg, Ikast-Brande, Vejle, Haderslev, Aabenraa, and Vejen.
