On the edge of the Rebild Hills and Rold Forest lies Gravlev Valley – an area rich in natural wonders, cultural traces, and history. The trail is defined by its many springs, scenic viewpoints, and a unique glimpse into Denmark during the Cold War.
Gravlev Ådal -Hærvejens Perle
The trail follows the scenic Gravlev Valley, passing by several of the area’s famous springs: Ravnkilde, Gravlev Kilde, Egebæk Kilde, Lille Blåkilde, and Kovadsbæk. It circles Gravlev Lake, offering sweeping views of the open landscape. Along the way, you’ll cross safely and dry-footed under the Hobrovej road via the 76-meter-long Undervejsbro – a small attraction in its own right.
A highlight of the trail is the passage over REGAN Vest – the former Cold War nuclear bunker, hidden 60 meters underground. Above ground, information signs help you understand the site's dramatic history. From here, you'll also enjoy stunning views towards the Rebild Hills.
The trail also features Skillingbro Limestone Quarry, a mythical stone row, and an ancient “troll forest.” The recommended starting point is at the Rebild Centre, where you’ll find exhibitions and visitor facilities.
