The hiking trail is a cornucopia of sights on the edge of Rebild Hills and Rold Forest.
It is a journey with two main themes. The hiker passes by all the large and beautiful springs in Gravlev Valley: Egebæk Spring, Gravlev Spring, Lille Blåkilde, Ravnkilde, and Kovadsbæk. The route circles Gravlev Lake with stunning views and along Lindenborg Stream. And also over the stream on the spectacular Undervejs Bridge, which ensures that one crosses the 76-meter-long tunnel under Hobrovej safely and with dry feet. A true water-tour.
REGAN West is the second main theme. The route passes over the nuclear bunker, where interpretation along the way helps to give a sense of what lies 60 meters down. From REGAN West and down towards the Rebild Center, the hiker gets fantastic views of Rebild Hills.
The route also offers a mythical stone row, ancient troll forest, and Skillingbro Limestone Quarry.
It is recommended to start the hike at the Rebild Center and walk it clockwise to the north.
Selected experiences
A walk on the Gravlev Valley Route can be combined with a visit to the Cold War Museum REGAN West, the atomic bomb-proof bunker complex. NOTE: Must be booked in advance at https://nordjyskemuseer.dk
The Rebild Center is also worth a visit. Check out the exhibition on the Cold War and take a walk in the Thingbæk Limestone Mines, where the sculptures by Anders Bundgaard are displayed in the mine tunnels. See https://www.rebildcentret.com
The culinary highlight of Ruten is Rold Storkro, which offers lunch, coffee and cake, or dinner - all of high quality. See https://rold.dk
If you're just thirsty, you can quench it and fill your water bottle with the purest spring water from Ravnkilde.
