Look forward to a trip near the west coast along forest roads and narrow paths in the open dune heaths and the beautiful nature of the dune plantations. The Hærvej stage Blokhus-Fjerritslev passes through the hilly areas near the coast's steep slopes and offers breathtaking views.

Shop for lunch before departure
Before leaving Blokhus, it might be a good idea to buy your lunch before departure at Spar or at Klausen Fish and Shellfish.

Hike from Blokhus to Rødhus
Walk 10.7 km (about 2.5 hours) to reach Rødhus.

Enjoy your packed lunch in Rødhus
Enjoy your packed lunch at Rødhus Church on Rødhus Church Road 7, where you also have the opportunity to refill your water bottle and use the restroom.

Hike to Tranum
Put on your backpack again and walk the remaining approx. 13 km to Tranum.

Have dinner at Midtpunktet
You must be hungry after a full day of hiking, so you deserve a good meal at Midtpunktet in Tranum, open Thursday - Sunday from 5 to 7 pm. Or you can buy your dinner at Dagli'Brugsen in Tranum.

Overnight outdoors
There is an option to stay overnight in your own tent at DCU Camping Tranum.

Overnight indoors
Sleep in a cozy bed at the town's B&B called Tranum Light and Glass.

Enjoy breakfast at a micro-bakery
You can start your day with a visit to the micro-bakery DahlLuther, which is however 1 km away from your accommodation if you have stayed at Tranum Lys og Glas. But here you can fuel up on delicious morning bread before the day's long hike. Alternatively, DCU Camping also offers morning bread if you have stayed there.

Hiking to Slettestrand
With your backpack or belly filled with freshly baked bread, you now head from Tranum to Slettestrand (11 km). On this stretch, you follow Lien, which is Denmark's longest inland cliff offering breathtaking views.


Enjoy your lunch at Slettestrand

At Slettestrand, you can enjoy your coffee or lunch at Café Kulør during the summer season or at FerieCenter Slettestrand, where you can also take in the incredibly beautiful and varied nature with dunes and beach.


Hike to Fjerritslev

With renewed energy, the final stage is to be walked from Slettestrand to Fjerritslev (15 km). Pass by the historic Svinkløv Badehotel and get a stamp in your Hærvej Passport at Strandhotel Klitrosen and feel the breeze as you move through Svinkløv Plantation. Consider taking a 1 km detour at Telfondalen to Grønnestrand to see Denmark's only remaining heather-thatched Mill which is 100 years old, Lyngmøllen.


You have reached your destination
You have now walked 50 km and have arrived at the bustling market town of Fjerritslev. If you have the energy to enjoy the town before returning to Blokhus, a visit to the Fjerritslev Brewery and Local Museum is recommended.

  • Parking at the startPark the car in the plantation at the parking lot Aalborgvej 97, 9492 Blokhus.
  • Transport back to BlokhusFind bus 70 (towards Aalborg) and get off at Aabybro Care Home. Transfer to bus 200 to Blokhus, where your car is parked (in the plantation). You may want to check the Journey Planner for departure times on your day of travel.
