Selected experiences on the stage
Rødhus Church
Rødhus Church is also known as "the church at the end of the world". This village church was built in 1913 for a modest sum of 12,767 kroner, which was raised through collections and state support.
By the year 1600, the name Rødhus no longer existed, as the shifting sands had erased all traces on the fertile, elevated seabed.
When you step into Rødhus Church, you also step into the past. Here you are transported to bygone times, and the church is still illuminated today only by candlelight, which gives the room a special atmosphere of contemplation and tranquility.

Tranum Church
Tranum Church is a medieval church that was built around the year 1200 in granite ashlar and Romanesque style. Originally, the church consisted only of a nave and chancel, but around 1450, both a tower and vaults were added. At the same time, Tranum Church also received a rare, ancient bell that was hung. The fragile bell has since been relieved by a new one, which you can still hear ringing to call to service. At the end of the 19th century, the church was further expanded with a porch.
Tranum Church is very well-preserved compared to other medieval churches, which you can see from the original windows in the church's north wall.
When you step into the village church, you will see that both the altarpiece and the pulpit are of a more recent date. However, the granite baptismal font is as old as the church itself. Originally, the font stood by the now bricked-up women's door but has been moved. Like many other fonts, it was damaged after the Reformation, where the previous paintings were often removed in a rough manner. However, you can still discern the carved crosses on the base, despite the ravages of time and the influence of the Reformation. Tranum Church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, who is the patron saint of sailors, but perhaps better known as Santa Claus.
